The ball just keeps rolling faster for Saskwatch, Melbourne’s monsters of soul. After a busy year winning hearts and starting parties at Meredith Music Festival, a sold out LP tour and a debut UK tour in 2012. In the later part of the year Saskwatch & Mikey Young (Eddy Current Suppression Ring / Total Control) stepped into The Curtain Band Room, made it their studio for a couple of days and the result is ‘I Get Lonely’, a gritty ripper of a track that brings a whole new layer of garage rock to the band’s ever evolving soul sound.
‘I Get Lonely’ is faster and harder than Saskwatch has ever been before. Its clangy guitars and fast-paced drums evoke 60s surf-rock vibes, while the horn section bring the melody, all held together by Nkechi Anele’s gutsy vocals. It’s ambitious and it hits the mark.
The work for Mikey didn't stop - he and Max Kohane, collectively known as Brain Children liberally applied their talents to Saskwatch’s single, ‘Your Love’ and the result - an ambient remix full of echoing guitars and almost prog-rock drums.
The treats don't stop there ... be sure to check out the Lucy Dyson and Joseph Jensen created video which sees Saskwatch performing in a new bar, it's weirdly wonderful, you'll wish you had of been there.
‘I Get Lonely’ is a one-off, non-album single via Northside Records with the Brain Children remix of ‘Your Love’ as the b-side.

I just simply love this album. It twists and turns and takes its influences in a seriously fun and exciting manner, without really sounding like any one else.
Can't wait for their next album.
